Safely Handling Bulk Solids in Industry: Dust Hazards, Analysis, Mitigation, Prevention, and Control

Join industry experts in this comprehensive course to learn about dust hazards and analysis, design of dust control systems, and dust explosion, prevention, and suppression and isolation. Students will apply knowledge in the actual design of a dust control system and auxiliary equipment, including cyclones, fabric filters, wet scrubbers, electrostatic precipitator, hoods, ducts, and fans. 

By attending this course, participants will know the concepts of:

  • Dust hazards and the methodology to analyze 
  • Sizing and designing dust collection systems specific to their industry operation
  • Dust explosions and the different methods to prevent explosions, including sizing of explosion vents

This comprehensive course is designed for individuals who are responsible for dust control systems, and minimizing and controlling dust explosion hazards during pneumatic conveying of bulk solids, such as engineers, operators, managers, technicians and R&D scientists and engineers. The course is appropriate for new employees as well as those who want to increase their knowledge and experience. Employees in the following industries are encouraged to attend:

CEU/PDHs: 27 hours

Continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded for full completion of the professional development course. Participants must be present for the entire schedule, or make arrangements prior to course start date with Professional Education and Outreach, in order to be eligible to be awarded the CEUs.

Location: Bulk Solids Innovation Center in Salina, Kansas

Cost: Early bird rate of $1,500 per attendee on or before June 25, 2019

$1,800 per attendee after June 25, 2019

Registration fee includes course instruction, materials, and supplies, morning refreshments daily, and lunch and afternoon refreshments Tuesday and Wednesday. Please see Discounts and Registration Fee Scholarship for information on discounted rates.

A discounted rate is offered for companies sending multiple attendees. Discounts are tied to number of attendees as follows:

A discounted registration rate of $600 is offered to current graduate and post doctoral students.
